TECHNICAL DATA SHEET
Farmseal Concrete & Wood Sealer for Agricultural Structures
DESCRIPTION AND USES
Farmseal is a clear, solvent based epoxy sealer which can be used to waterproof all porous surfaces. The hydrophilic properties of Farmseal enable it to locate and displace water from the pores of the substrate where it then cures to form a permanently sealed surface layer. As well as waterproofing it also seals against bacteria and viruses and prevents algae growth. Farmseal has been shown to reduce the incidence of infections such as those caused by E-coli and the transfer of parasitic infestations such as coccidiosis. Farmseal will also protect concrete from acid attack such as silage effluent and animal wastes. It will also prevent the transmission of damp through the walls and floors of buildings. It can be used inside and out. Farmseal will also seal softwoods to prevent bacterial colonisation and retention of parasite eggs.
USES INCLUDE:
• STONE BUILDINGS
• CONCRETE FLOORS
• MILKING PARLOURS
• SILAGE PITS
• SILAGE CLAMPS
• LAMBING SHEDS

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Farmseal can be applied by low pressure spray, roller or brush. One coat will normally be sufficient to seal most porous surfaces and leave the surface virtually unchanged in appearance. Second and subsequent coats will leave a slight surface sheen. All surfaces to which Farmseal is to be applied should ideally be clean, dry and free from dust and loose particles. Acceptable penetration and adhesion can be achieved on damp surfaces (remove surface water first). Mix two parts of Farmseal Base with one part of Hardener and stir well for 2/3 minutes. (7.5 litre packs are pre-measured). Mixed material will remain usable for 24 hours if the container is kept sealed.
Application with a low pressure sprayer is most economical but rollers and brushes are equally effective (if spraying, use a sprayer suitable for solvents otherwise the internal seals may be affected by solvent). The Castleseal ''Sure Shot'' sprayer is recommended.
After application, allow the first coat to soak in. Water droplets may appear on the surface as the product penetrates and drives out the moisture. Allow the first coat to cure for at least 2 hours before overcoating.
One or two coats of Farmseal is an effective waterproof barrier however Farmseal may also be over painted with any conventional paint systems. It may also be plastered or rendered over with conventional screeding materials.
WARNING: Farmseal contains volatile, highly flammable solvents. It must only be applied outside or in a well ventilated area otherwise breathing apparatus and extraction equipment will be required. Observe Health and Safety information on labels.
Clean equipment with acetone or M.E.K. before the material cures.
QUANTITY ESTIMATION
Sprayed 15-18 m²/litre (1 coat)
8-9 m²/litre (2 coats)
Brushed 5-6 m²/litre
Rollered 6-7 m²/litre
NOTES FOR USE
Farmseal as a concrete/masonry waterproofing - one coat normally sufficient.
Farmseal as a protection against chemical attack - two coats required.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Farmseal is only suitable for porous surfaces. Do not attempt to use it on surfaces which have already been sealed with other products. Softwoods which have been rot-proofed by pressure treatment or dipping can normally be sealed with Farmseal, however timber treated with certain proprietary wood preservers such as Cuprinol may not be suitable for sealing. A small test area will determine whether the product can soak in. If it does not penetrate, do not use.
This data is provided in good faith for guidance purposes however due to variations in equipment and local conditions. Users should carry out their own tests to ensure that satisfactory results can be obtained.
