Pigments are available to add colour to resins. Because pigments can reduce mechanical properties of the resin no more pigment should be added than is necessary. Use up to 5% addition by weight for strong dark colours but never more than 10% and mix thoroughly to avoid streaking.

Fillers are used to thicken or add "body" to the resin either for application purposes or to reduce the cost in large volume applications. Fillers such as sand and carborundum are also used to impart slip resistance. Like pigments, fillers will reduce the mechanical and electrical properties of the resin and this should be taken into account before their use is considered.
